In 2023, Challenge the Stats, a non-profit in Atlanta empowering artists of color, commissioned Verena with curating a concert celebrating Juneteenth. She wanted to celebrate choral music and began recruiting from her musical networks in the city.
The concert was such a success that she was asked to curate concerts with the ensemble for two more seasons. After 3 successful programs the choir had nearly doubled in members and Verena felt driven to embrace the group as it’s own entity.
Our future
Atlanta Voices plans to follow through with their mission by performing masterpieces of choral music by under-recognized composers and using their voices to champion our causes.
We plan to perform at least 2 concerts per season and perhaps some day reach beyond the city of Atlanta!
Our plan is to build a board and soon become a 5013(c) non-profit. For the moment we exist as a business in order to facilitate the process of applying for non-profit status.
